Chef Bob Witte, CEC, right, delivers a check to the Community Pantry food back in Gallup, NM on behalf of the New Mexico Chapter of the American Culinary Federation.

CROWNPOINT, NM – On April 17, 2020, Navajo Technical University’s Director of Food Services Chef Bob Witte, CEC, delivered a check to the Community Pantry food bank in Gallup, NM to provide relief to community members amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The $2,000 check was donated on behalf of the New Mexico Chapter of the American Culinary Federation (ACF).

Both NTU’s Culinary Arts and Commercial Baking programs were reaccredited by the ACF last fall after earning initial accreditation in 2011. The ACF is the largest chefs association in the nation with over 17,000 members representing nearly 200 chapter throughout the United States. NTU’s Culinary Arts and Commercial Baking programs are the only at a tribal college and university to hold accreditation with the ACF, and one of two existing programs in the state of New Mexico. According to Chef Witte, NTU will apply to be a sub chapter of the ACF in January.

For more information about the donation or NTU’s Culinary Arts or Baking programs, contact Chef Bob Witte at rwitte@navajotech.edu.
