Assurance Argument

As part of the accreditation review process with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), each
institution prepares an assurance argument accompanied by an evidence file. The assurance
argument demonstrates how the institution satisfies each of the HLC criteria for accreditation
and their associated core components.

For each criterion, the institution provides:

  • A detailed explanation of how each core component within the criterion is met.
  • A summary statement describing any additional ways the institution fulfills the criterion that may not be fully addressed within the individual core component discussions.
  • References and links to supporting documentation contained in the institution’s evidence file to substantiate the claims and arguments presented.

The Assurance Argument and evidence file together provide a comprehensive demonstration of the institution’s compliance with HLC accreditation standards and its commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
