Assurance Review 2027-2028

The university was reaccredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) for 10 years (until 2028), the maximum possible period. As part of this process, NTU participates in periodic Assurance Reviews to demonstrate continued compliance with HLC’s Criteria for Accreditation and commitment to institutional improvement.

Through the assurance review process, the university prepares and submits an assurance argument that provides evidence showing how NTU fulfills each of the HLC Criteria for Accreditation and their associated core components.

The four HLC Criteria for Accreditation are:

Criteria 1. Mission

Criteria 2. Integrity: Ethical and Responsible Conduct

Criteria 3. Teaching and Learning for Student Success

Criteria 4. Sustainability: Institutional Effectiveness, Resources, and Planning

To prepare for each review, the university collects supporting documentation and develops a comprehensive assurance argument covering the designated review period. The assurance argument is submitted to the HLC as part of the formal evaluation process.

Previous Assurance Review – 2017-2018

As part of the HLC Standard Pathway process, NTU previously completed an assurance review in which institutional working groups gathered evidence and developed the assurance argument aligned with the HLC criteria for accreditation.

The assurance argument was developed collaboratively by university leadership, faculty, and staff to demonstrate the institution’s commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and student success.
