2027-2028 Comprehensive Evaluation/Visit

Overview

Navajo Technical University (NTU) has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) since 2005. The HLC is one of the institutional accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The university’s most recent comprehensive evaluation was conducted in 2018. Following this review, HLC reaffirmed NTU’s accreditation for a ten-year period (until 2028), the maximum term granted by the commission. The evaluation confirmed the university’s commitment to academic quality, effective governance and administration, qualified faculty and staff, and the appropriate resources and facilities necessary to support student learning and institutional effectiveness.

Standard Pathway

Navajo Technical University participates in the standard pathway, one of the two pathways available for maintaining accreditation with HLC. The standard pathway operates on a ten-year cycle designed to support both quality assurance and continuous institutional improvement. During the final year of the cycle, the institution undergoes a comprehensive evaluation to demonstrate that it continues to meet the HLC criteria for accreditation and complies with requirements established by the U.S. Department of Education.
