The Navajo Technical University (NTU) Rodeo Team has recently made its mark at rodeo events in Tucumcari, New Mexico, showcasing remarkable talent and determination. The team displayed outstanding performances on October 13th and 14th, with impressive results that have set the stage for their upcoming challenges.

On the first day of the competition, the NTU men's rodeo team secured a remarkable 3rd place finish, demonstrating their tenacity and skill in the arena. This was followed by a commendable 4th place finish on the subsequent day, further solidifying their presence on the rodeo circuit.

One standout performer of the event was bareback rider Hyan Ramos, who made his college rodeo debut on October 13th and claimed victory in the bareback riding event. His impressive performance earned him not only a check but also 145 valuable points, propelling him to 3rd place in the overall standings. Hyan Ramos's incredible debut sets a promising trajectory for his rodeo career.

Another noteworthy newcomer to the NTU Rodeo Team, bareback rider Isaiah Tom, made a strong impression during the weekend in Tucumcari. He secured a 2nd place finish on October 14 in the bareback riding event, earning 126 points and solidifying his position at 4th place in the overall standings. Isaiah Tom's early success bodes well for his future in the rodeo arena.

In the thrilling world of steer wrestling, Matthew Jodie emerged as a dominant force for the NTU team. On the 13th, he claimed victory in the steer wrestling event, earning a well-deserved check and 145 crucial points. The following day, on the 14th, Matthew Jodie maintained his excellent form by securing 2nd place, earning another check and 126 points. With these consistent performances, he now stands atop the leaderboard in the steer wrestling event, further establishing himself as a formidable force in the sport.

Coach Pino expressed her pride in the team's accomplishments.The team's camaraderie, dedication, and passion for rodeo are clear indicators of their potential for future success.

The NTU Rodeo Team is now gearing up for their next challenge in Las Cruces, New Mexico. However, due to a scheduling conflict, most of the team members won't be able to attend, as they will be participating in the Indian National Finals Rodeo (INFR) taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada. Coach Pino conveyed her appreciation for the hard work put in by her team throughout the year and extended her best wishes to those competing in Vegas.

As the NTU Rodeo Team continues to make a name for themselves in the world of rodeo, they serve as an inspiration to aspiring rodeo athletes and a source of pride for Navajo Technical University. With their dedication and passion, this talented group of individuals is poised for even greater achievements in the rodeo arena.

The NTU (Navajo Technical University) Rodeo Team recently participated in their first rodeo event of the season, showcasing their talents and skills in various rodeo disciplines. Despite facing some tough competition, the team displayed determination and resilience throughout the event.

Out of the 11 eligible NTU Rodeo Athletes, only 5 competed in this inaugural rodeo event. The team faced a formidable lineup of competitors from Cochise College, with entries in various rodeo categories, including saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, goat tying, and breakaway roping.

In the Steer Wrestling event, senior Matthew Jodie demonstrated his prowess in the arena. In the long go, he clocked an impressive 6.3 seconds, tying for 4th place. In the short go, Matthew continued to shine with a time of 14.7 seconds, securing a 3rd place finish. His combined efforts resulted in a 2nd place Average with a total time of 21.00 seconds on two runs, earning him 115 points and positioning him at 2nd place in the standings.

Freshman Kadin Jodie showcased her talent in the Breakaway event. In the long go, she roped her calf in 3.5 seconds, placing 6th. Unfortunately, she faced challenges in the short go and recorded a no time, receiving 10 points and currently standing at 8th place in the standings. On the other hand, freshman Ashley Yazzie posted a time of 4.3 seconds in the breakaway, narrowly missing the top 10 cutoff of 3.8 seconds. Freshman Renae Ben, however, missed her calf in the breakaway, as did sophomore Amythiess Marvin.

In the Tie Down Roping event, Matthew Jodie displayed his skills with a smooth run clocking in at 21.5 seconds. Unfortunately, he broke the barrier, missing the top 10 cutoff of 12.8 seconds.

The Team Roping event proved to be challenging for the NTU team, as Matt and Kadin recorded a no time in their attempt.

In the Goat Tying event, Renae Ben posted a time of 12.2 seconds, just missing the top 10 short round cutoff of 10.5 seconds. Amythiess Marvin faced a tough break when her goat got up, resulting in a no time.

Finally, in the Barrel Racing event, both Ashley Yazzie and Amythiess Marvin posted times of 19 seconds, with the top 10 cutoff standing at 17 seconds.

The NTU Rodeo Team's performance in their first rodeo of the season is commendable. The athletes displayed their dedication to the sport and will no doubt continue to improve as the season progresses. The Navajo Technical University Men's Basketball had their third regular season game Friday, November,4th at 7:30 pm at Adam State University.

The Skyhawks won the tip-off and kept an up-pace tempo and with the help of their strong defense, the game was neck and neck. With quick baskets on each side of the court. Unfortunately, the team began to have multiple fouls leading them to trail the Grizzlies 54-33 ending the first half. The Skyhawks trailed by 20 points for the entirety of the second half. The Skyhawks battled hard until the very last second of the game. The Skyhawks had a tough loss to Adam State University, with a final score of 109-74 in Alamosa, Colorado. When asked the question "How does the team plan to overcome the loss of today's game and be ready for the next ?" Skyhawks #23 Jose Miguel Jr stated " Well we plan to sharpen our defense the next game and execute better offensively" This early loss will be in the back of the team's mind as they work towards a great, history-making season. The Men's Basketball Team will be traveling again to Espanola, NM to play against Northern New Mexico on Saturday, November 5th at 7:00 pm. Please wish the team good luck and safe travels.

NTU teams have goals to place in their conference, regional, and national championships in a variety of sports. Winning teams have become a tradition at NTU in both men’s and women’s sports. Community support for intercollegiate athletics at NTU has been outstanding. The caliber of coaching, the quality of uniforms and equipment, the training and medical facilities, and the opportunity to play against good competition are superior. NTU Athletic Programs aspire to the highest level of intercollegiate competition, sportsmanship and academic excellence through the University mission.
