Crownpoint, NM – Navajo Technical University’s rodeo team recently competed at the Grand Canyon Regional Finale, held at the Prescott Frontier Days Rodeo grounds in Prescott, AZ, from April 23-25, 2026.
The NTU men’s team had an outstanding performance, finishing 1st overall in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) standings. This success was highlighted by Alvaro Begay, who won the Long Go, and Isaiah Tom, who won the Short Go.
Currently, the bareback team is ranked 1st, with Alvaro Begay and Isaiah Tom placing 2nd individually. Both have officially secured their spots to compete at the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR), scheduled for June 14-20, 2026.
