The goal of the New Media Department at Navajo Technical College is to train the next generation of Navajo Film and Media Makers. The department has a focus on regional and professional quality production with contemporary lightweight media tools. Native American filmmakers create and distribute work which will influence social, economic, and political change. The democratization of media creation and distribution - light-weight digital cameras, affordable editing systems, distribution via the Internet - is a great opportunity to create professional, inspired work that can be produced in-house from script to screen and web. The New Media Department has created an inspiring learning environment where students develop the skills they need, to succeed in today’s rapidly changing media landscape. There is no better moment than today to start making films, videos and web content.
