Navajo Technical University has legislation going before the Arizona House of Representatives Education Committee on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 2 PM for our Chinle site’s proposed Navajo Center for the Environment (see attached). We encourage you to sign-in on the Arizona legislature’s Request To Speak (RTS) system and support House Bill 2516.
RTS allows you to provide written comments on specific bills, comments that legislators can review and read aloud during committee hearings. Some committees may require you to have an account in RTS if you wish to provide real-time comments in virtual committees.
To participate in the committee on-line, follow the process below:
1. SIGN UP FOR AZ LEGISLATURE "REQUEST TO SPEAK" (RTS) SYSTEM:
In order to participate in the legislative process this year, sign up through the Legislature's official "Request to Speak" system. RTS allows you to provide written comments on specific bills. Some committees may require you to have an account in RTS and sign-in prior to the meeting if you wish to provide real-time comments in virtual committees. Learn more about the Request To Speak system and sign up through Civic Engagement Beyond Voting. (https://www.cebv.us/rts.html)
2. EMAIL THE STATE HOUSE FOR THE ONLINE MEETING LINK:
To testify in committee either virtually or in-person, you must email 24-hours in advance of the hearing (excluding weekends and holiday). Email the committee you plan to address, and include the bill number. You must email the Education Committee: HouseEd@azleg.gov
We appreciate you taking the time to support our legislature in order to improve health and environmental outcomes on the Navajo Nation.
