2023 AIHEC 5K Run

ELIGIBILITY

You don’t have to be registered for the AIHEC conference to participate. This event is open to all current TCU students who have been certified as meeting the AIHEC academic requirements, and have been registered into the event by their school. You are not required to be a part of a team to participate.

INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANTS:

These are participants that are not affiliated with an Institutions 3 person team.

TEAMS

Teams will consist of 3 participants from the same institution of the same gender. (3 males or 3 females)

Schools may enter more than one team. Teams and individuals would have to be indicated on the registration as Team A and Team B, and so on.

Teams may have more than 3 runners (Example: 4 males) on a team, however, only the first 3 individuals to finish will be counted towards the team score. (No displacement)

SCORING

Final placement of each team member will be determined by when they cross the finish line in chronological order. All individual participants not affiliated with a team will be taken out of team scoring results.

A point value will be applied to each team member based on overall place to make up the team score. All three team members will have their points added together to get a final team score. The team with the lowest team score wins. (Traditional cross-country scoring)

EXAMPLE:

Team A has runners finish in 1st, 4th, and 9th place overall. You add the finishing places, 1, 4, 9, (14) to make the overall team score of 14.

Team B has runners finish in 2nd, 5th, and 6th place overall. You add the finishing places, 2, 5, 6, (13) to make the overall team score of 13.

Team C has runners finish in 3rd, 7th, and 8th place overall. You add the finishing places, 3, 7, 8, (18) to make the overall team score of 18.

Team B is the winner with a score of 13.

Team A is second with a score of 14.

Team C is third with a score of 18.

In case of a tie, the team with the fastest finishing time of all 3 runners combined will take the higher finishing place.

EXAMPLE: TEAM D & E tie with a team score of 24 each.

Team D had runners finish with times of 15:30, 15:45, and 19 minutes. That would be a combined time for all 3 runners, 50:15, or 50 minutes and 15 seconds.

Team E had runners finish with times of 16:00, 16:30, and 18:15. That would be a combined time for all 3 runners, 50:45, or 50 minutes and 45 seconds.

Team D is awarded the higher place with a combined time of 50 minutes 15 seconds against team E’s time of 50 minutes 45 seconds. (30 seconds slower) Team E would take the next lower place behind team D.

If there are no schools with a total of 3 competitors of the same gender, teams will be scored as Coed.
